Alternative Vehicle Technology

Increasing worldwide demand for oil, fluctuating costs, dwindling supply and the acceptance of climate repercussions has mainstream America demanding alternative vehicles. Consumers are looking for accountability as ‘carbon footprint’ becomes a common phrase. Policies on the federal, state and city levels are driving us to better C.A.F.E. Standards and new fleet requirements for state agencies and businesses alike. New York City’s commitment to policies that support alternative fuel vehicles firmly puts us on the road toward improving air quality and weaning New York City from fossil fuels. Bold initiatives, such as a fully hybrid taxi fleet, have grabbed the attention of drivers, industry leaders, policy makers and fleet managers across the country.

CSE is actively working with New York City fleet owners and operators to integrate green vehicles into their fleets, and to encourage the distribution of alternative technology in New York City. CSE has partnered with Bronx Community College’s long established alternative fuel automotive program, and with the National Science Foundation on Hybrid Vehicle Training Programs. As part of CSE’s commitment to workforce training, CSE is currently working with fleet managers to develop the training courses needed to keep green fleets on the road.
