Solar
The sun is New York City’s most valuable renewable energy resource. Each year, more than enough solar energy falls on New York City to meet the city’s electrical demand. The Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE) has studied this valuable resource, and has provided extensive research for New York City's Solar Energy Future. New York City’s Solar Energy Future Part I: The Market for Photovoltaic Systems in New York City Part II: Solar Energy Policies and Barriers in New York City CSE’s studies were instrumental in achieving CUNY's Million Solar Roof goal, as well as in outlining a plan for New York City to build a sustainable solar future. As a result, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) named New York City as one of its 13 inaugural Solar America Cities. The City University of New York (CUNY) is proud of its successful partnership with New York City that led to the DOE’s Solar America City designation. |
