The Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE) has developed the following sequence of classes for Photovoltaic (Solar Electric) Training:  Additional workshops and courses:

36-hour Math/Electricity Basics for Photovoltaics
This class is a required prerequisite* to the 40-hour Introductory Photovoltaic (PV) Design and Installation class. Pre- and post-tests will be given. Those who pass the test at the end of the class will be able to register for the 40-hour Introductory PV class. Those who have not mastered the material will have to retake this class.

*Electricians and electrical engineers are not required to take this class.

40-hour Introductory Photovoltaic Design and Installation
Prerequisite: 36-hour Math/Electricity Basics for Photovoltaics class
This is the industry-wide accepted introductory class designed for individuals interested in entering the solar field, and is based on the NABCEP Task Analysis. At the conclusion of the class, CSE offers students the opportunity to take the NABCEP Entry Level Exam for $100. This entry level exam certifies that the student has achieved basic comprehension and application of key terms and concepts of photovoltaic (solar electric) system operations, knowledge that prepares him/her for an entry level job in the industry. (This differs from the Solar Installer Certification Exam.) 40 AIA credits/40 PDH credits

Introduction to CAD Drawing for Solar PV and Solar Thermal: Computer Drawing and Design for Solar Systems

This 12 hour “Introduction to CAD” is a comprehensive beginners’ Computer Aided Drawing Class (CAD) for practitioners of the solar business. The class will focus on teaching the necessary computer drawing skills to help with the design of PV Systems and Solar Thermal Systems. The class will meet in a computer lab and use Turbocad Deluxe 16 software.
